Houston- The Houston Texans will be signing free agent offensive tackle Rick Leonard to a reserve/futures deal for the 2019. The Texans announced eight signing yesterday but Leonard comes a day later bringing a potential name to watch for an offensive line that needs as much competition it at get. According to his agent, the Texans signed Leonard getting him onto the roster heading into next season.
Leonard was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the 4th round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Florida State. Despite being a draft pick, Leonard did not make the 53-man roster after the preseason and was signed to the practice squad instead. He was soon cut by the Saints and then he spent time on the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals practice squads this past season.
For the Seminoles, he arrived to school as a defensive end and after two seasons was asked to flip to the offensive side of the ball and play tackle. Leonard played six games at right tackle in 2016 and in 2017 he started all 13-games of the 2017 season.
