Former Houston Texans ILB Akeem Dent Returns Part of the 2019 Coaching Staff

Houston Texans bring back Akeem Dent as a defensive assistant on the 2019 coaching staff.

The Houston Texans have hired former inside linebacker Akeem Dent to be a defensive assistant on the 2019 coaching staff. Dent is one of three former Texans on the 2019 coaching staff joining T.J. Yates (offensive assistant) and Brian Cushing (strength and conditioning assistant).

Dent was traded to the Texans in 2014 for Yates from the Atlanta Falcons. He spent three seasons with the Texans an inside linebacker appearing in 53 career games with 12 starts. He amassed 52 total tackles, 8 quarterback hits and three tackles for loss in his career with the Texans.

The Texans value experience on their coaching staff and having a former player like Dent to relate to players will be a valuable resource when the season arrives.
