The Houston Texans continue their draft work heading to the NFL Draft, and they have held a private workout out with Florida Gators defensive back Chauncey Gardner-Johnson. The work out with the Texans took place at Cocoa High School on Tuesday in Cocoa, Florida. The Texans sent assistant secondary coach D’Anton Lynn to work out Johnson in Florida.
At the NFL Combine, Gardner-Johnson measured in at 5-foot-11 and 210 lbs. and ran a 4.48 forty-yard dash.
Playing primarily safety for the Gators, Gardner-Johnson declared for the NFL Draft after his junior season in 2018 where he played in 13 games (12 starts) posting 71 total tackles, four interceptions which two were returned for touchdowns. He also had two pass breakups, nine tackles for loss and three sacks.
For his career, he appeared in 37 games for the Gators with nine intersections, 12 pass breakups, 161 total tackles and 15.5 tackles for loss which included four sacks. He also had three defensive touchdowns.
