Poll Question - Department of Defense

What was the greatest defense of all time?

1969 Chiefs -The only defense in Super Bowl history to finish first across the board in the defensive stats – total, run, pass and scoring. Five Hall of Famers: DTs Buck Buchanan and Curley Culp, LBs Bobby Bell and Willie Lanier and CB Emmitt Thomas.

1976 Steelers -Offensive injuries prevented this team from winning a Super Bowl. But the Steel Curtain never played better, posting five shutouts and holding three other foes without a TD. Four Hall of Famers: DT Joe Greene, MLB Jack Lambert, OLB Jack Ham and CB Mel Blount.

1985 Bears -Collected 65 sacks and held 14 of 19 foes to 10 points or less on way to NFL title. Four shutouts – 2 in regular season, 2 in playoffs. Three Hall of Famers (MLB Mike Singletary, DT Dan Hampton, DE Richard Dent) and two other Pro Bowlers.

2000 Ravens -Set an NFL record for the fewest points in a 16-game season (165) on the way to a Super Bowl championship. One Hall of Famer (S Rod Woodson) and two other Pro Bowlers (DT Sam Adams, MLB Ray Lewis). Four shutouts.
