Giants likely to go back to Jawill Davis on returns

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J – In a surprising move, the Giants announced they have waived receiver/.return specialist Quadree Henderson to make room for defensive lineman R.J. McIntosh, who was activated today from the Reserve/Nonfootball Illness list.

The decision to waive the 5-8, 192-pound Henderson, a rookie out of Pitt, comes as a surprise. and as an indication that the Giants are probably going to go back toJawill Davis (6-0, 197 pounds) who had been sidelined the last couple of games with a hamstring strain, and who has zero yards on one punt return so far.

In two games played for the Giants, Henderson, an undrafted free agent who was with the Steelers before being waived and then picked up by the Giants, averaged a team-best 7.3 yards per punt return.

He also averaged 22.4 yards per kickoff return, two yards shy of Davis’ average.
