Two games into his CFL career and Johnny Manziel has yet to take a regular-season snap.

Manziel watched from the sidelines again as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats evened their record at 1-1 with a 38-21 victory over the Edmonton Eskimos on Friday night.

And with the way starting quarterback Jeremiah Masoli played in the victory, it doesn't appear Manziel will have many chances to be under center in the near future.

Masoli finished 19 of 29 for three touchdowns, an interception and 332 yards for the Tiger-Cats. He connected on scoring strikes of 15, 45 and 18 yards.

"I've been saying it and nobody seems to believe me," said Hamilton coach June Jones, per TSN. "He has been pretty spectacular for as long as I have been here, 12 games.

"Jeremiah got out of some trouble and made plays which you need to do in this league. We are lucky to have him."

Jones remains a staunch supporter of Manziel, praising his work ethic and telling ESPN earlier this week that the former Heisman Trophy winner should be playing in the NFL.

Manziel signed a two-year contract with the Tiger-Cats in May. He appeared in a pair of exhibition games, completing 21 of 32 passes for 168 yards and a touchdown.

The No. 22 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Manziel last played in the NFL at the end of the 2015 season with the Cleveland Browns.

Manziel played in 15 games with Cleveland over two seasons. He completed 57 percent of his passes with seven touchdowns, seven interceptions and seven fumbles before his release in March 2016.

Following the 2015 season, Manziel entered a rehabilitation center and was suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

It was the off-field problems that led to Manziel's fall. The 25-year-old was investigated by Dallas police in 2016 for domestic violence against an ex-girlfriend, but the charges were dropped when he agreed to undergo counseling.
