OUTLOOK: Personifying the argument for returning to school, Baker gave up a chance at being an early draft pick in 2018 to head back to Athens to help the Bulldogs defend their SEC crown and compete for a national title. Though Baker and his Bulldogs came up short of these team goals, he starred, earning the Thorpe Award and First Team All-SEC honors in 2018 with 40 tackles, nine passes broken up (tying his career high) and two interceptions. It is appropriate that Baker was a Bulldog as he plays with this kind of mentality. While not the biggest or fastest, Baker does not back down from a fight, showing the quickness, physicality and toughness to continue his success in the NFL. Baker plays with the highly competitive mentality scouts crave at cornerback and he is about as battle-tested as it gets, showing the athleticism and awareness to succeed in bump and run, off-man and zone principles at the college level. He projects best to a zone scheme in the NFL, where his instincts, quickness to close and physicality will help make up for average speed.
