OUTLOOK: Collier made the switch from defensive tackle to defensive end in 2018 and flourished, topping his combined numbers from the previous two seasons in a breakout campaign that earned him First Team All Big 12 honors from conference coaches and an invitation to the Senior Bowl. Compact, powerful frame for the position with broad shoulders, long thick limbs - including 34 3/4" arms - large hands and a stout lower half. Active, powerful hands. Shows good upper body strength to lockout and hold his ground in the running game. More slippery and coordinated than his stout frame suggests, spinning off would-be blockers and flashing an intriguing explosive closing burst when he needs it. God strength for the drag-down tackle. Versatile defender experienced playing multiple roles, including as a interior defensive lineman, traditional defensive end and stand-up rusher off both edges. Showed much greater awareness of passing lanes in 2018, tipping four passes in 11 games after just 1 in the previous 22. Short stubby frame. Just average initial burst upfield off the snap for a modern-day edge rusher. Often ranks among the last off the ball, which is disconcerting given that Collier flashes an explosive burst when he wants to use it, raising questions about his awareness and focus. Too often he looks like he's walking through cement, showing just average speed and effort in pursuit outside of the tackle box. An impressive performance in Mobile has Collier's stock rising still further as he showed an intriguing blend of power and agility, projecting as a jack-of-all trades, master of none type who can play multiple roles up and down the line of scrimmage.
