Mawae, Johnson top prospects for Hall call

Retired

--Center Kevin Mawae: One of the best offensive lineman of his generation, Mawae was a first-team All-Pro in five of his eight seasons with the Jets and a Pro Bowler six times. He was also a first-team All-Pro twice with the Titans. The now 47-year-old was also president of the NFLPA for four years. He was inducted into the Jets Ring of Honor last season, when he was also one of 15 finalists for the Hall of Fame.

Still playing

--Cornerback Trumaine Johnson: The current Jets roster is bereft of Hall of Fame talent, but if someone must be named, it would be the newly-acquired Johnson, who had 18 interceptions (three returned for touchdowns) in six seasons with the Rams. The 28-year-old, who also has 67 pass deflections and three fumble recoveries, still has plenty of work to do to get a Gold Jacket, though.
