The Philadelphia Eagles released linebacker Mychal Hendricks, the team announced Tuesday.

Hendricks appeared in 15 games, making 13 starts, in helping the Eagles win a Super Bowl championship last season.

The release of Hendricks, which was expected in a cost-cutting move, came hours before Philadephia linebacker Paul Worrilow suffered a season-ending torn ACL Tuesday during the first day of organized team activities.

The 27-year-old Hendricks spent each of his six NFL seasons with the Eagles. He recorded 73 tackles, 2.0 sacks and six passes defensed in 2017.

A second-round pick of Philadelphia in 2012, Hendricks registered a career-high 113 tackles in his second season in 2011. He also notched 4.0 of his 14 career sacks that season.
