The Indianapolis Colts signed free agent running back Tion Green on Wednesday, the team announced.
To make room for Green on the roster, the Colts waived running back Josh Ferguson with an injured designation. If Ferguson clears waivers, he will be placed on the Colts’ Injured Reserve list.
The 6-foot, 220-pound Green re-joins the Colts after first signing with the team earlier this month and then being released. He played in five games with the Detroit Lions as a rookie in 2017 and totaled 42 carries for 165 yards and two touchdowns. Green also caught two passes for 14 yards.
Green was signed by the Lions last year as a free agent out of Cincinnati, where he rushed for 445 carries for 2,072 yards and 19 touchdowns in 46 games. Green also caught passes for 295 yards and returned nine kickoffs for 193 yards.
The 5-10, 205-pound Ferguson played in 26 games in the last two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, rushing 16 times for 25 yards, making 23 receptions for 152 yards, nine kickoff returns for 166 yards and one punt return for zero yards. He was signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois in 2016.
