Atlanta Falcons defensive end Takk McKinley seems to really want to get to the double-digit sacks plateau in 2019. So much so that he made quite a bold statement via Twitter on Monday night if he doesn't.
McKinley posted 7.0 sacks in 15 games, eight of which he started, during the 2018 season. As a rookie in 2017, he recorded 6.0 sacks. The next step for him would be to register 10 this year, which is certainly possible. Still only 23, McKinley should have his very best football still ahead of him.
These types of bold offseason predictions or proclamations often backfire, but Falcons fans have to love McKinley's drive and spirit. Unless for some reason he hates his dreads, this tweet should only motivate the 23-year-old to perform well all season long. If the Falcons can get McKinley some pass rushing help either in free agency or through the draft, that would certainly assist him in this goal too.
Here at Falcons Maven, we fully support McKinley in his quest to keep his dreads. No matter what form it comes in, this type of motivation will only help the Falcons ultimate goal of getting back to the playoffs.
