The Cowboys have stirred up their fans in a good way going into the annual Thanksgiving Day game. A two-game road winning streak has Dallas back in the hunt for the NFC East championship, especially with the Redskins having to insert backup quarterback Colt McCoy in a long-term role as Alex Smith is out for the season with a broken leg.
Here are some Cowboys’ players thoughts going into Sunday’s 3:30 kickoff.
Ezekiel Elliott on the running game’s production the last two weeks:
“We’ve definitely made a lot of strides in our running game since then and I think we’ve kind of hit stride on what we’re doing. It’s going to be important this game to establish that running game and definitely do a lot better than we did the last time we played Washington.”
Dak Prescott on the Cowboys’ current winning streak:
“I’m playing with a lot of confidence and you can do that when you’re getting wins and you’re playing well together, you’re playing complimentary football.”
“We just kind of got back to that mentality. The offensive line is doing a great job of moving guys up front and Zeke is coming into it, just getting in a groove and finding those holes and making people miss.”
“We said a couple of weeks ago that we’re still in this division, everything was in front of us. Our backs are still against the wall, though. We know what this game means, how important this game is. Once again, It’s just another must-win for us.”
Zack Martin on the Cowboys’ current winning streak:
“We’re getting better every week and I think guys are bought in. I think there’s still a lot to get better at, but it’s been trending in the right direction. We’ve gotten back to a lot of things we’ve done in the past.”
“Each one of these games is really like a playoff game for us. If we’re going to have any shot of getting in, we’re going to have to win each week and take one game at a time and I think guys have bought into that.”
Jaylon Smith on honoring past Cowboys linebackers:
“The No. 54. I didn’t choose it, it was given to me. Jerry gave it to me for that reason, Chuck Howley and Randy White. Some great guys who have worn that number, which leaves great responsibility for myself. For me, I’m all about challenges and I expect nothing less than greatness. Each and every day I get a reminder to strive to be excellent. “
