The Cowboys made a personnel move on Monday in an attempt to correct problems on the offensive line.
Dallas announced the firing of offensive line coach Paul Alexander. Assistant offensive line coach Marc Colombo has been promoted to Alexander’s position. The Cowboys also hired longtime NFL offensive line coach Hudson Houck as an advisor.
“While approaching the midpoint of the season, and going through an overall evaluation of our entire operation during the bye week, we felt that this move would serve the best interests of our team moving forward,” Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said in the press release announcing the moves.
Dallas’s offensive line, once considered one of the team’s cornerstone, has been a relative weakness this season. Holding penalties, in particular, have kept the Cowboys behind the chains often during their four-game road losing streak in this campaign.
