Here we go with the third preseason game as the Cowboys host the Arizona Cardinals beginning in less than an hour.
By this point in training camp, we usually see a dress rehearsal, but it doesn't look like that will be the case tonight. Word around the press box here at AT&T Stadium is that quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott will be spectators for this one. They will probably be standing on the sideline watching along with most of the starting offensive line.
It's hard to blame the Cowboys for being careful at this point. Dallas has to give right guard Zack Martin and center Travis Frederick time to rest injuries. That means a makeshift offensive line and the Cowboys are better off not chancing an injury to skill position stars by putting them in harm's way in the preseason. The team probably feels a bit snake bit, too, considering how many players were helped off last week against the Bengals.
So we'll find out how well Cooper Rush can handle the offense in a starting situation. And we'll find out how good the Cowboys O-line depth stands up.
It's also a chance for the Cowboys defense, which has built so much momentum in this training camp, to take center stage.
We won't have as much fun as we would if Dak and Zeke were in the game, but maybe we'll learn something.
