The Arizona Cardinals signed Gerald Hodges to a one-year contract and waived fellow linebacker Jeremy Cash with an injury designation, the team announced Monday.
Hodges enjoyed his best season with the San Francisco 49ers in 2016, when he recorded a career-high 80 tackles, three sacks, two interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
The 27-year-old has collected 213 tackles, 3.5 sacks and three interceptions in 65 career contests with the New Orleans Saints, Minnesota Vikings and 49ers.
Hodges played in 11 games with the Saints last season and had three special teams tackles.
Cash sustained a knee injury during the third quarter of Saturday night’s 24-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Prior to the injury, Cash rumbled 12 yards with a fumble recovery for a touchdown that gave the Cardinals a 14-3 lead.
Cash is a third-year player out of Duke. He played nine games in his first two seasons with the Carolina Panthers before joining the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns practice squads.
Arizona claimed Cash off waivers from Cleveland in March.
