(On the front four’s approach to facing Jackson)
“Any time when you have a running quarterback, you’re looking at a more physical game. Just to play that is difficult. I’m not going to lie, their option stuff is difficult and anybody in the NFL – D-end-wise – if they say it’s not that’s a lie. That stuff – play with your eyes – but you’ve got to be disciplined with it and I think I do a pretty good job and our coaches do a pretty good job game-planning against it. I think we’re going to go out and do it.”
(On why the defensive line has had success)
“I think Coach Buck (Brentson Buckner) and Coach [Paul] Spicer do a great job telling the guys to play for each other on that defensive line and that’s what we do. That’s basically it. Us playing for each other and everything will fall around that. I think any time in this league, football is definitely going to start up front with the defensive line and offensive line. Whoever’s going to win the physical battle out of that has a big chance of winning that game.”
(On Coach Duffner saying that he’s having an All-Pro season)
“I think it’s pretty cool that he thinks highly of me. I appreciate everything he says, but I’m going to continue being me and keep playing some ball.
(On if it more difficult preparing for a mobile quarterback like Lamar Jackson than a pocket passer)
“Not necessarily. I think in this league you prepare yourself each and every week it’s going to be different preparation. This week is a different preparation. Obviously, he’s a rookie and he just come in and he’s doing great things by being a starter now. He’s a running quarterback and I know a lot about running quarterbacks because I’ve faced them a lot. I’m going to be looking forward to playing him. Looking forward to running out there and playing their option stuff.”
