Gerald McCoy on Facing Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger

DT Gerald McCoy spoke to the media Friday about facing the Steelers on Monday Night Football and QB Ben Roethlisberger.

(On if it’s hard to get a sack on Ben Roethlisberger)

“Absolutely. You just called him Big Ben and then followed by saying is it hard to get him on the ground – it’s Big Ben. He’s elusive actually and just a strong guy. One of the best we’ve ever seen in extended plays. He believes he can make any throw. He’s a future Hall of Famer and all respect goes to him. With Pittsburgh, we have to make sure we finish our rushing. [We] can’t just stop on the rush and think we can get our hands up. He’s not that guy – he’s going to extend the play. We’ve got to get to him.”

(On if the defense made improvements from Week 1 to Week 2)

“It was better. We haven’t played a complete game yet in all phases – front end all the way to the back end. We’ve got a lot of improving – me personally. We’ll be better though. Two weeks in – a lot of football to play.”

(On defensive tackle Vita Vea’s progression)

“’V’…he hates not being out there. He’s not trying to make this thing stretch out. He’s been going overtime trying to get back and it was good seeing him out there yesterday. He’s just going to continue to push until he’s back.”
